Mission Statement

Our mission is to help our clients grow: grow into more financial success, more satisfying careers, and most importantly: grow into an easy, balanced life that is rich in the things that truly matter most to the individual. We don't believe in cookie-cutter approaches.  But we do believe in a common goal:  success as defined by each client.  We believe in encouraging a view of 'success' that reaches beyond immediate gratification.  And we believe that coaching success is forged in results -- determined by the client, and achieved by the client with the wisdom, support and guidance of a qualified, sensitive coach.

    Self Description

OK.  I am smart, but not 'intellectual'.  I have an over-developed sense of humor, and I don't believe there is ever a bad time to exercise it.  I've been told I'm wrong about that, but, you know.... we are what we are :)

In coaching, I listen with my whole person: I tune into what you are saying, but also how you are saying it, as well as hearing what you are NOT saying.

I also speak freely when I have something to share.  I value effective communication, and I can communiciate powerfully.

    Interest

Of course, I am 'into' coaching.  I like reading about it, and socializing with other coaches.  I'm such a coaching 'geek'!  My *other* interests include a passion for music (The Sea and Cake, Yo Yo Ma, Pat Metheny and John Coltrane are on my play list today...).  I am an advocate for Autism Awareness (just ask me!).  In my rare spare time, I like to play guitar... jazz guitar... go to the beach... work out on the elliptical trainer... and watch baseball.  I'm a Philly fan, all the way :)

    Qualities & Strengths

I believe I draw on all of my personal gifts in coaching: intelligence, humor, perspective and empathy. My clients have also told me that some of my most unique coaching strengths come from my 'other' work and life experience.   I find I draw on these experiences frequently in my coaching, and they seem to serve me, and my clients, exceptionally well.

    • Executive Experience.  I am a practicing executive and manager, currently the Vice President of Career Services at The Art Institute of Philadelphia.  My 20 years of experience also includes the publishing industry (Harcourt Brace, Holt Rinehart & Winston, Judson Press), internet technology (MapQuest) and healthcare information (RiskCare).
    • Parenting.  I am the father of two, an adult daughter and a college-age son.
    • Raising a child with special needs.  My son, Patrick, has Aspergers Syndrome, a form of high-functioning Autism.  I have learned so much from him, and from the experience.  It has profoundly impacted me, postiively, as a parent and as a coach.
    • Marriage.  Married for 26 years.  I draw on the experiences of my marriage, as well as the wisdom of my wife and soul-mate, Maureen.
