Mission StatementWhen people connect with their core values, come to clearly understand what needs they have that must be met, and establish a clearly defined path based on these factors, they access an internal wisdom that results in significant and easily recognizable change. This clears away the debris and leaves a clearly visible path to pursue. This internal wisdom, combined with the right coach is a truly winning formula.
As your committed listener and partner-in-action, I provide tools, concepts and experience which enables this process to occur more easily and gracefully. I am passionately (and I don't use that word casually) committed to bringing out the highest potential of each individual and/or business through clarity, focus, purpose, truth and integrity. Throw in a little humor, fun and balance and you have a pretty exceptional package.
SpecialtiesUUNIQUE QUALITIES:
One of my clients called me a "tweener"....not a counselor, consultant, mentor, therapist, psychic, cheerleader, or coach, but rather...a "tweener"...someone with a little of all these qualities whose head is screwed on tight". I've also been told that I have the rare ability to easily access both right- and left-brain processing which gives me the flexibility to work with a wide range of client profiles and issues.

You may be at the point in your life where you are transitioning your priorities from the material to the more internally focused goals, a phase of personal developoment that addresses questions such as "Who Am I? What's truly Important to Me? How Do I Maintain a Balance while navigating this Transition?
I have experience with both For Profit and Not for Profit, Individuals and organizations in Transition ........Yes, really, all of these and more! And don't let anyone tell you that you can't be exceptional unless you focus on a particular niche. One of my strengths has always been the ability to see the bigger picture while still being able to zero in on the details across multiple profiles.

Self Description What's important for you to know about me? First, that I care a lot about almost anything I get involved with (otherwise why bother, right?); second, that I can be counted on no matter what. In addition, I'm loyal, honest, and funny (when it's appropriate). I hear what's between the lines and am not afraid to share it (gracefully and compassionately) regardless of how uncomfortable it may be for me, as long as it has the potential to benefit you. I'm both very practical and highly intuitive. I've "been there, done that, got the T-shirt" and integrate this into my unique contribution to your process.
GoalsMy goals for achieving success with and for you are: LISTENING to what you say about what you are wanting or not wanting; CLARIFYING / CRYSTALIZING your initial set of intentions; ENGAGING in an honest, candid, soul-searching conversation about what you are willing to do to get what you want; PARTNERING with you to develop a set of blueprints to get you there; MAKING adjustments as we discover what's working and what isn't; CELEBRATING with you as you reach your milestones, and ultimately, your final destination.

Interest A balance between being a successful business person and keeping my personal well-being in good condition is key to my definition of a satisfying and happy life. Business interests include reading and researching leading edge ideas; meeting like-minded people as well as exploring "purple cow" ideas. My personal interests include walks on the beach, romantic evenings in front of the fireplace.........I'm kidding. How to do this part without it sounding like a "personal ad"? I had an 18 year old cat whom I loved like a child (sadly he died). HOWEVER, after a period of grieving, I have adopted a "rescue cat" (Wilson) who now thinks I work for him; I really do like to spend time taking walks through green areas; I read almost as much for personal satisfaction as I do for my business; meeting and talking to people who care about themselves and the planet on which we live. Anything else you can find out when you call me.
Qualities & StrengthsBelief in people's ability to change; commitment to people, processes and results; creative, direct yet compassionate; encouraging / supportive; holistic and humanistic; honest; intuitive, intelligent, logical / pragmatic; passionate about life / work; problem-solver; right-brain / left-brain balanced (ask me how and why this is a strength); sense of humor / ability to bring fun and lightness to the process; wise (if I do say so myself). I've worked hard to get here so I think I should take credit for it.

BackgroundOver 25 years in business, 15 of which were in management, project management, management training, employee development and which exposed me to on-going and varied aspects of "real-time coaching".
Life crisis? Get me out of here! In early 1993 I started my own problem-solving business (Self Design Strategies) doing what I truly love: facilitating people and businesses in realizing their full potential. Shortly after that I heard of Coach University and officially launched my coaching career. As one of the earliest CoachU graduates (1995), Inside and Out, Coaching was born. I have been coaching individuals and businesses for over 15 years now.
Another Life Crisis? Several years ago I felt myself going through an internal shift in self-identity. After roughly two years I decided to change my name: a symbol of self-change, self-discovery and future goals. That's when and why I came up with: PHOENIX...a re-birthing, new beginnings and turning the "old" into a vibrant "new". I hold that image for myself as well as my clients.
CorporateMy deep understanding and appreciation of both individuals and business results in part from my 23 years with IBM Corporation, followed by almost 5 years with Lotus Development Corporation (pre-IBM). I managed, trained managers, managed projects and spear-headed ground-breaking programs in the PC and workstations division. My projects exposed me to sales, administration, systems, manufacturing, human resources, finance, product marketing and product development. Been there, got the T-shirt!
EducationI launched my professional life right after graduating high school and it's turned out pretty well: a highly awarded IBM employee with both a management and senior staff career. Senior Project Manager for "Burning Issues" projects for Lotus Development Corp. All this, followed by starting my own business and sustaining that coaching business now in it's 15th year. P.S. Statistics show that approximately 17% (or less) of employees are in jobs related to their graduate degrees. Hmm.......Please, trust my experience before eliminating from the competition because I lack a "degree". Thanks!
DegreesDegrees and / or other stuff: You have probably read my "Education" section, if not please do so before reading this. It creates an important context. Thanks.
As an employee (IBM and Lotus), I won the highest level of awards available throughout my career. As an individual I learned 2nd degree Reiki, became an Avatar Master and delivered the Avatar Course for 2 years +, participated in the Hoffman Quadrinity Process, studied and taught Buddhist courses in the early/mid '80's, attended all the est/Forum programs including the GSLP (Guest Seminar Leader's Program) and volunteered in many support functions; studied human-nature in multiple forms.

Testimonials"I can honestly say that my weekly calls with Phoenix have been the single most important factor in my being able to build a business and life that I love. She's a great listener, a relentless encourager, and a "pulls no punches" observer who frequently holds up a mirror for me to see what is getting in the way of my own success. She is also an experienced businessperson herself which means that she understands where I'm coming from. I have recommended Phoenix to at least a dozen friends and colleagues over the years and I am happy to recommend her to you as well!"
Michael Katz, Chief Penguin, Blue Penguin Development, Inc.

Besides being married to the love of my life, and having two wonderful children, coaching with Phoenix has been the most personally rewarding thing I have ever done!"

"Working with Phoenix has been more remarkable than I could have imagined. She has shown me how to clearly see and work through thought patterns that have stood in the way of sculpting my inner and outer life into what I had wished they could be. I can sincerely say that because of Phoenix's coaching I am able to live my life more fully and I am happily giving myself the gifts of abundance and clarity on a daily basis.

"....coaching filled a void I didn't even know I had. I've spent most of my career in positions of leadership where I not only didn't have a supervisor, I didn't have a peer. Getting advice was a "hit or miss" process of asking colleagues or doing my own research. Phoenix's coaching has been my source of "one stop shopping". While she has been an invaluable coach for strategic business decisions, most importantly she has coached me through tough people issues - from dealing with difficult personalities on my board of directors to those on my management team. When I've lost perspective Phoenix helps me regain it, including the balance of work, family and my own well being. Her wealth of knowledge is so broad that almost anything I bring up she can identify an article, book, resource or website for me. She could probably identify a great place for dinner in Kathmandu. I'd cut back on the heat in my office before I'd cut the cost of her coaching from my budget."
Denise K. McGuire, (Former) Executive Director, Cambridge Family and Children's Services
